Shelby Colburn (She/Her/Hers) was raised in Eddington, Maine near a forbidden forest crawling with oddities and creatures. She found solace in reading & writing, which allowed her to escape into different worlds filled with magic; heroism; despair; tragedy; redemption; & adventure.
Her works range from magical realism to fabulist horror. Colburn likes to focus her stories through the lens of women, fatness, LGBTQIA+, and revenge.
Colburn has a BA & MA in English from the University of Maine; with a minor in Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies. She earned her MFA in Creative Writing (Fiction) from The University of New Hampshire. She has experience teaching Composition & Rhetoric Studies, along with Creative Writing. She is TESOL certified and taught English online to students in China.
She enjoys playing Dungeons & Dragons, and when she is not a Dungeon Master, she takes up the mantle of Lore Keeper. Her favorite class to play is Barbarian.
Colburn currently resides in Southern Maine with her partner. She is the Creative Director for Nine Tigers Kung-Fu.
